Adults Learning to Sail
Running alongside the social sails, we have lots of opportunities for members to sail with more experienced sailors
The club has numerous social sails in the calendar – normally on a Saturday depending on the tides. These are supported by safety boats and all members who want a non-competitive sail are encouraged to get on the water and enjoy our beautiful sailing area.
Members can sail their own boats or book a club boat through Nick White via the Dinghy Sailors or Cadult WhatsApp groups or boatbookingwsc@gmail.com . We might need to check your sailing experience before you can take a boat out. Please also see the Club Boat Scheme to see if charges are payable.
CADULTS (Cadet Adults)
More experienced club members often take new or returning sailors out during the Social Sails. To take part, contact Julie-Anne White at thecommodorewsc@gmail.com who will add you to the WhatsApp group where these sessions are organised. The aim is to get you confident helming or crewing multi-seater boats such as the Club’s YW Dayboat, Wayfarers, Laser 2000 or RS Visions. What to wear
Some sailors progress to going solo on a Topaz and Laser before purchasing their own boat but there is no pressure – we want you to enjoy the sailing and the river.
These sessions are organised and supervised on an entirely voluntary basis. In turn, it is expected that sailors will volunteer their time for the club, which can benefit from your help in a variety of roles.
